passenger side rear wheel won't turn
hello guys,
could use some help:
I have a 2002 dodge neon SE. After leaving the car sitting over the winter in marquette, MI (very cold), I found that the rear passenger side wheel wouldn't turn. Having taken the tire off, making sure the parking brake was not engaged,I couldn't get the drum brake to budge on the rotor. I did notice there was a lot of rust on the drum brake. Any ideas as to the cause of the problem, and possible solutions? Let me know if you need more information.
Thanks!
John

neons have always had rear brake issues. in your case, the brake shoes have rusted themselves to the drums. this is common if you leave the car sitting for a long time. it happened to me a few times. you are going to have to take off the tire and spray some wd-40 around the hub mating surface as well as the studs, let that sit and re-apply, then go out and hit the drum with a nice big hammer a few times, then put more wd-40 on and repeat til it comes off. it will break loose eventually. also, you could try to loosen the adjustment knurl on the backside of the mounting plate, if you know how. ask if ya got any other ?'s
dude use PB blaster and soak it in it.lol.if it still wont come off your gona have to use some CLR cause i heard that works good too.good luck man
i also had that problem with my old 95 dodge neon
the brake pads actually came off and wedged themselves not letting the wheel turn. Take off the wheel and look for that. But it could be what the others said too
