Knock / tap noise when releasing gas pedal
Hi all. Been reading the threads here for a while but this is my first time posting. I searched for an answer on this but was unable to find one that seems to fit the description exactly, so please bear with me if this has been posted before...
I have an '01 Neon SE (no tach) and I recently noticed a new noise. When I'm at a dead stop and hit the accelerator pedal and release it before the transmission takes it's first shift, there's a brief knock sound from under the hood. It also happens when I'm at a low-speed coast (around 25 mph or less) and briefly tap the gas pedal. Doing the same thing in park does not produce the sound. Has anyone had this before?
