i need a diagram of the alternator belt setup. i think i might be missing a pulley or some sort of tensioner. i have a 1999 dodge neon dohc.

 

now that i crawled under there again i realized that the auto parts store gave me the wrong belt. this one is too big. i also noticed that i have an unorthodox pulley. im not sure which pulley it would be but there is a belt that runs to the alternator and 1 that runs around the air conditioning compressor and then around another pulley/device(water pump???) and back to the unorthodox pulley. do i need a special order belt to run to the alternator or just the same as the stock one.

 

Bring the old belt with you when you go to return the wrong one

 

You do have two belts. A short one and a long one. The long one is to the power steering and AC. It has a tesioner and is outboard on the crank pulley. Easiest to get from underneath the car. The short on is the alterntor. The alternator is only around the the crank and alternator. This one is tenioned buy pivoting the alternator on the bottom bolt and tightening the top "slide" bolt(bolt in an arced slot). Use a prybar. Check to make sure it is tight but not like superman force here ok.
