sometimes the reverse lights work when selected.
but not all the time i replace the reverse switch on tranny.
it worked for a little \ if you sit there and move the tranny selector up and down some time light will come on. ( 96 dodge neon 2.0L )

 

same thing that was with mine back in the day. Replaced the switch and the switch burned out again. I gave up then and said screw it I dont need them.
