Interior dome light stays on when door shut?
Lately the interior dome light keeps coming on in my Dodge Neon 2000 along with the door ajar message in the dash. I realize that it means the door is not shut tight but it is. I imagine the switch is not getting the signal (door not shut tight enough). I took the switch out and sprayed it with WD40 but the switch looks like brand new, no signs of corrosion. The dome light still comes on with the message. I adjusted the "hook" that the door's mechanism grabs as close to the interior as I can.
I did notice that on the door, there is a slot with a clear tape across it. Under this there's a set screw with an Allan key head. Is this to adjust the door mechanism? Can I adjust the door to close tighter with this screw? Thanks anyone.

After doing all the adjustments I could see, I concluded that it must be because the door ajar button isn't going in far enough when the door is closed. I located the mark on the door where it contacts the switch, drilled a hole and screwed in a self tapping bolt. Now the door ajar light is off and so is the dome light.
since you have the door light AND the door ajar light on the dash, check all the door switch pins on the door jams. The 2000 models have an adjustable switch pin. You will need to look closely at the pin to see the adjuster. The rounded end can be pulled out or pushed in until the light goes off with the door closed. It could be any of the four switches. I just went to each one and pulled the ends out about 1/4 inch then closed the door. When the light went off I knew I found the culprit. Easy, time consuming........but oh so satisfying. lol Mine would come on when I went around a right turn.....freeked me out at night lol.
