Should the Neon be replaced?
To tell you the truth. I hate both of the new potential replacements. No need to replace them.
Should the Neon be replaced?
? YES ? .............................................. ? NO ?

its kinda not our decision? heh.
btw. the caliber IS NOT replacing the neon. the caliber is just a new addition to the lineup, so people gotta stop thinking that the caliber is the neon's replacement. the rebel, however, very well may be the neons replacement. still a lotta speculation on that one tho. guess we'll find out when the neons actual replaced is unveiled.

i think it should be. its an aging car.. and really, no matter what kind of improvements they make on the neon, itll still carry that history of being "a pos neon" no matter what.
Agree 110%
Who wanted Ford to keep the Pinto after the exploding fuel tank lawsuit? A few enthusiasts maybe?
The Neon had great marketing, extremely low startup costs (passed on to the customers) and a hell of a grassroots racing program with the ACR package. At the time of its release, it outperformed, outhandled, had more interior room, and had the largest trunk of any car in its class, and cost less than just about any of its competitors. However...
DC Customer "Service" pissed off a ton of Neon owners with head gaskets that failed (sometimes more than once) within the warranty period with absolutely no assistance, despite the problem being a design issue (that was later fixed with the MLS gasket). Add to that the peeling paint, faulty fuel sender/gauges, power steering issues, quirky turn signals, crappy motor mounts, 70 mph shakes (control arm bushings), and the other dozen or so frequent problems that DC flatly refused to help with. No wonder just about any former Neon owner will tell you it was the worst car they ever owned.
The ATX tranny puts down nearly 20 HP less to the ground than the MTX. Ask anybody who's rented one and they'll tell you it was the worst car they've ever rented (myself incuded), despite being able to fit 4 good size suitcases in the trunk. The image of the gutless Neon was firmly ingrained in the minds of budget travelers everywhere, and the word spread from there.
Let it die.

The Neon has been out for about 10 years. Car companies normally replace their cars after that amount of time. I think it's ok that they replace the Neon, just not with the crap they are coming out with. They should keep making the Neon SRT-4 though.

Oh; the Neon is among the worst in side impacts on crash testing. They could make another car safer.
The Cobalt is new and it's among the safest.
