2000 neon sxt auto shaking when I am stoped
my car runs fine in park but when you put it in gear it and are stopped it shakes real bad when driving it seems fine but soon as you stop it starts shaking again any ideas where to start if I put it back in park it stops shaking
I was having this exact same problem recently... at idle, while in gear it would vibrate badly (progressively worse as time moved on), but you put it in park, neutral, or give it some gas and the problem went away.
Normal diagnostics for this problem is to check for vacuum leaks.
Mine ended up being a bad spark plug (as in really bad - blew the spark plug out destroying all the threads
= new head after the new spark plug thread insert didn't work).
Might check for proper spark (check all wires, etc.). Also might check for bad flow through the catalytic converter. Might have enough clogged to affect idle, but enough flow the rest of the time (but unlikely to be the problem unless it is consistent via RPM regardless what gear you're in, etc.).
Hope it's something simple.
