Sounds to me, although i don't have much knowledge in mechanics, like this could be a fuse, light bulb, or electrical problem. having them flashing for a while could have gotten the bulbs really hot and possibly melted the wires? check your fuses though, that would be my first guess.

i took my own advice and checked my fuses. turns out my fog light's fuse was toast, as were the cables too.. the electrical tape around the wires got so hot that it turned rock solid when it cooled.. i haven't been able to use fog lights since i got the car, and now i doubt i ever will :]

i have a 2001 dodge Neon the rear brake lights dont work, the third brake light does, hazards do not work , but if i push hazards in brake lights work, signal lights also do not work. I replaced the multi switch or the signal light lever and the headlight switch and still no luck the wiring harness that plugged into the multi switch looked burned so I replaced the harness with a good used ones and spliced all the color coded wires were matched together and ohms tested fine. This is driving me crazy
