Looking to get back into a Neon should I go SXT or SRT ?
Hey everyone .I just found this site tonight looking at getting back into a dodge neon but not sure really if it is a good fit for traveling around the us from season to season etc. I owned a dodge neon 2004 and loved but the only thing I hated about the car was it was an auto
. I mean why do they even make Auto's is sport's cars now a days just wrong IMO but any who. I've been searching around the CL adds and hard to see what price is a good price for the average Neon or even the SRT version. Either I go will be taking out a loan to pay the car , I don't think I could get 6 k out of my current suv which is a 87 4runner with 190k ,however, I have just about rebuilt the darn motor due breakage and leaks . What do you guys think here ??
IMO, if you can afford it go srt!
there no way in hell i could have gotten an srt when i was car shopping
because being just 17, my insurance would cost more than the car itself!!
i have a 2004 sxt and love it! its a manual transmission too.
its very sporty looking with its spoiler and all you really need is to
style the rims. the srt already has all of its work cut out for you though.
even stock equipment looks very very nice. my sxt doesnt go 0-60 as
fast, but its speedy enough for me honestly.
id rather have an srt than my sxt any day, but i love my sxt anyways :]
the only problem i've had with it was my a/c, and the previous owner
over filled the freon which blew a valve. its a very good car and when
my engine dies i plan on dropping an srt motor in it.
but any ways, im very satisfied with my sxt, and like i said, if you
can afford an srt, id recommend srt. thats just me though

I just love my auto sxt its not your normal sxt either its built mainly for show and soon to have a hahn stage2 turbo kit and repainting her a satin black and puttin some 19s with bc coilovers . A srt is nice but wow good luck at finding one that has not been abused most are these days. I know alot of sport cars with autos that are very fast and nicer than some 5 speeds. Like the srt8 anything and grandnationals and some srt10 vipers and srt10 rams. I hate when anyone puts down autos when some are very nice . I cant drive 5 speed anymore due to me having a bad hand . Iwould love to have a 5 speed for my next ride though .

showsxt you do make a good point in some sports having nice Auto's but that isn't my style I don't care to drive an Auto my self .You can squeeze out more mpg in a stick as well . Right off the bat this will just be a commuter in between seasonal jobs as I driver from place to place .I'm also mainly just looking for IYO ( IN your opions ) about the neon's ext . I really loved my auto , I should have never should it was a good car , however, the auto was just my stlye in driving. I guess I get that from driving stick most my driving experience and is always a blast .
if its just a commuter, id say go sxt.
the smaller engine would probably give you better gas mileage,
and you can get either an auto or manual. all i had to do with my
sxt was throw some new wheels and tires on it and everyone
fell in love with my car. i might just win best senior male car this year :]

Yeah I agree with itane if your wanting a commuter than a sxt would be very nice my auto gets really good gas mileage and I use her everyday. Srt4 gets ok gas mileage but with turbo not as good gas mileage as a sxt. You will get alot of attention in both if you mod the sxt like ithane and I did . I think I put like 6 grand in her over the 6yrs I have had my sxtand probably more to come by next yr. Whatever you get sxt or srt4 both are really nice neon and very fun rides.
OK I got another question for you guys.I Just found to be a good looking SXT on CL in the Seattle area .The dealer wants 4955 or something for , it has around 56K miles on her .However, I am not back in WA should I jump on this car or should I shop around more ? Here is the link . Again thanks for responding everyone. I kind do want an SRT still but for insurance and more loan taking I'm gonna stick the SXT and also because I may be traveling more across the states a little in the next few years and I may end up in AK one summer working dunno yet.
