I have a 2003 Dodge Neon, 4 cylinder engine and my check engine light keeps coming on and then after a couple of tanks of gas it will go back off, then out of nowhere it comes back on. I have stopped by Autozone and had them check the code that it was pulling. The code every time is the same code telling me I need a new gas cap. I replaced the gas cap and thought that fixed the problem, but yet again the light came back on when I got down 1/4 of a full tank of gas. It seems like every time the light comes on it is when I have 3/4 of a tank of gas left. And like every time the light stays on for a couple of tanks of gas and then it will go off and stay off for a couple of tanks. A friend of mine said it could be a vacuum leak. Any suggestions? I need help. I am due for an inspection and really need to fix this. Please help??:icon_fr own::icon_frow n:

 

Did you bought a Gas Cap from Autozone?
word of advice, NEVER use aftermarket gas cap, go hit the dealership.
any other evap leak area will most likely require a smoke test, might have to hit the professional.
