Default serpentine belt and alternator belt

Hey all, I an new to this site, and i have searched all over trying to find out how to get the serpentine and alternator belts on my friends neon. It is a 2003 2.0 liter sohc engine. I Cant figure out how the tensioners work so I can get the belts on. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You use a wrench or long-handled ratchet/breaker bar to move the tensioner up so you can get the belt on.

The other belt requires you loosen the alternator tension bolt so you can move it closer to allow the belt to go on.

take a 3/4 open end wrench and on the tensioner theirs a spot on the top that comes out with a flat spot, just put the wrench over it like it was a bolt head and pull back, tell your buddy a good tool to keep is a 15 dollar chilton their great ive rebuilt a few engines with just those books, own one for all my rigs it will tell you how to do anything and has alot of pics to help out.

Not to bump an old thread but....

I'm having this exact issue with the same car. No matter how far I pull it back there isn't enough slack to get it on the tensioner. I figure either I'm doing something wrong or the belt is too small.

you have to "slip it over" the last pulley. (i typically make the crank pulley last)
I just did this when changing out the motor mount today what a PITA!
