Default need help on making my 2.0sohc faster with stock parts.

looking for help on making my 2.0 sohc faster with stock parts. i race a neon on a drit track , the rules say i can only use stock parts . does any one have any advice on interchangeable parts ie... 2.0 sohc 2.0dohc 2.4 . if you read between the lines in the rules a stock part is a stock part. so if any combo between the 3 engines will work i can use them. thanks

Well the RT or ACR offered 9-5-1 ratio I beleive and a larger cam stock, best thing you can do to get better power though is to remove airbox and top cover over air filter.

Few more things you can try.

Supposedly ATX w/OD had 55mm throttle bodies. I have yet to find one measuring over 52mm.

You can do this. It creates just a tad more torque but mostly HP however it's band is very wide and sloppy as opposed to a true CAI which increases a narrow and precise band based on length.

Bt stock do they mean only mopar wire's, and champion plugs, if not granatelli wires and some NGK iridiums will help smooth out throttle response.

You can also drop to the next range thermostat and plugs to get the engine to run richer via computer if you can get enough air in an out to not bog it down.

As far as the punching out cat suggestions it could cause issues. Removing cat requires you to add a defouler so it doesn't trigger CEL which would make it non stock.

The R/T 2.0 has stock headers, a ported head and intake + cam ( finding one is hard ) or you could port your own head but kinda pointless without a better intake.

Srt4 exhausts run 2.5" stock iirc and a less restrictive muffler.

Last thing which is very helpfull is doing A/C delete, and only running power steering and alternator belts. I have the correct belt part # if you need it for a hassle free job.

It helps the engine rev up quicker.

Here's an oldschool tip to gain a couple HP.

It's called indexing.

Basically you mark the open end of your plugs at the top of the spark plug. You want that index to face the intake port on all your plugs. You will need to buy indexing washers specifically made for this. They come in various sizes sort of like a feeler gauge. Most commonly found at real speed shops, not these make the car look faster accesory shops.

moroso part #71910 avg cost $20 at a local speed shop, sure if you shop around you can find them cheaper.

I remember reading somewhere that on the 95-99 if you pull off the piece of rubber seal on the back of tge hood above theair box it allows cooler air to come down behind the air horn thus allowing the motor to have a cooler air charge. But if you ever blow a coolant line it will let the steam fog up the windshield. Iirc it frees up 2-3 hp over stock. Supposedly no dyno tests proving. But it seems plausible.

So, making a ghetto cowl induction hood? It works fine on carb'd engines (when it is a real cowl hood), but on a FI system where the air enters the engine through a sealed intake system that sits at the front of the engine bay...not so much. They are for looks nowadays.

I'd doubt that there are dyno tests proving this because of what I said above.
