That's a fuel line. I personally would get that fixed ASAP, but silicone isn't going to do it. That long silver/chrome piece it's connected to is what feeds the fuel to the injectors.

Here's what the shop manual shows for possible causes of P0171:
GOOD TRIP EQUAL TO ZERO
RESTRICTED FUEL SUPPLY LINE
FUEL PUMP INLET STRAINER PLUGGED
FUEL PUMP MODULE
O2 SENSOR
O2 SIGNAL CIRCUIT
O2 RETURN CIRCUIT
O2 SENSOR HEATER OPERATION
THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR SWEEP
MAP SENSOR OPERATION
ECT SENSOR OPERATION
ENGINE MECHANICAL PROBLEM
FUEL CONTAMINATION/EXHAUST LEAK

That's the first time I've looked that code up from the Dodge manual as it is almost always a vacuum leak. You were correct about the O2 sensor and MAP being mentioned. I just figured that there would also be a code for those if they were not working correctly.

My brake pads started squeaking too just a little bit ago out of the blue. It's driving me insane!!!
Well im not that great with cars, i would rather buy the hose and if its as simple as pulling out the old one and putting the new one then i could do it myself.

What would this hose be called, if u think thats the problem. and if possible can i see a link to where i can buy it, ebay or any other site.

if i were to take it somewhere, i would specifically just tell them to replace it and no more, i wont fall for their bs

Does that explain the 17 mpg i get

how much would it cost to replace it, is it just the hose that needs replacing or another thing as well

If that line isn't leaking, then no, it shouldn't be. However, if it is, yes...and the possibility of an engine fire while you are driving. I personally would err on the side of caution and replace it either way unless you aren't concerned with it possibly developing a leak and causing a fire...

no, i havent seen it leak. but know that it could slip off or crack even more is enough for me to change it. i plan on maybe going this week and get it replaced. i dont know what that might costs me but i plan on asking a few places before hand.

so far i havent gotten the engine light back on. hoping i wont get it back
