CEL off but i get codes!!
So, just 2 days ago my check engine light turned on, and now today it is off. But i turned the key three times to see if the codes disappeared but i still get codes. What is causing it to have codes without the check engine light>
P0171 and P1684
Now, a month ago, i was getting the same codes but it also turned off after a week by itself so i left it alone and ignored it and like i said 2 days ago it turned on now today its off again.
What causes this, the O2 sensors, vaccum leaks, MAP sensor????

The CEL only comes on when there are problems that will affect emissions (generally, they are major problems).
P0171 I explained in your other thread. P1684 just means your battery was disconnected in the last 50 starts. Why there is a code for that...no clue.

i read that it shows the code because it saved those codes in the memory(memory of which codes where last given)
I was checking the vacuum hoses (or what i think are vacuum hoses, im not sure what they are but i was checking all the hoses looking things) and found one with a small crack at the end of the hose. Is that what is causing the P0171 code??? im not sure what that hose was for or to what it lead.
I also visually saw the 02 sensors and they look new, i doubt it might be that, but i know that even if they look clean and new, it might still give off false readings,
I dont know where the MAP sensor is at

A shoP wants to charge me 45 $ to check the car, idk if i should do it or just tell them to replace the hose with the small crack
If i uPload a Pic of the hose with the crack, can u tell me if thats the reason it gives off that code every now and then.. Thanks btw

O2 sensors are not likely to give that code. They have their own.
That code is not for a MAP sensor, so that doesn't matter too much either right now.
You are taking it to a shop to replace the hose?
That cracked hose could very well be causing the code, depending what hose it is. Most hoses in the engine bay are vacuum lines, so it's likely. Go ahead and put up a picture. Just make sure you get one zoomed out so we can see where it is in the engine bay and then a closer-up.

and well i read that the code could be caused by a bad 02 sensor, so i was just saying, also about the MAP sensor it said it might be dirty.. Well it said MAF but apperantly i have MAP.
And well im unsure as off now, idk whether i should pay to have it checked out for 45$ or to just tell them to replace the cracked hose so that i can just pay for that service alone.
Im pretty much gonna do what i am told on here, if u think it is the hose i am talking aboiut then i will just tell them to replace the hose. but if it turns out that particular hose is not it, then i will tell them to check it..
It sucks though cuz my brakes are squeaking and i wanted to get new brake pads, its embarrassing driving around squeaking

Depending on the size of the cracking, you can fix it very easily yourself with a $5 tube of silicone or a roll of cold tape. That's why I'm wondering which it is. The problem is, they could just end up throwing parts at it too...at your expense.
My brake pads started squeaking too just a little bit ago out of the blue. It's driving me insane!!!
