p0118 and p0113 i am getting now. im wondering if this is because i had the connectors unplugged with the ignition on last night? or if it wasnt making a good connection before, and now it is since ive reseated the connections, so now its sending the codes? Gah! Ill reset the CEL and let it run for a while and see what happens.

Coincidence is my worst enemy, so I always assume it's two problems. Similar problem happened to me, ended up being a dying pump, but I knocked a vacuum line loose at some point and I didn't notice until a week later after replacing the pump again as well as the IAC motor (I heard it clicking while the ignition was on and it ended up testing bad) before I finally decided to follow the vacuum lines around. EGR stuck open could also cause a problem like that which would even out while driving, but then cause a stall while idling.
I was wondering why it is that you have replaced the cam sensor so many times?

i got a new crank sensor delivered yesterday, ill be putting it in later today.

theres only 1 reason i can think of as to why the cam and crank sensors keep going out- the wiring is boned. like really, really, boned. I wonder where i could go about getting the wiring to replace everything under the hood? almost every sensor connection i can mess with is either - cracked, stripped, hard, brittle, or electrical taped as insulation.

Yep. coincidentally my car died on the road yesterday after stalling all weird. codes I pulled off keydance were coolant temp, air in temp, and TPS all out of range. So I went in there and pulled the pigtails and cleaned them out (there was some oil in there) and rearranged them a bit. Tried to push the wires into the plugs a bit, you never know. My Neon is a 96 and I've done some pretty extensive work on it so it doesn't surprise me that the wiring is all screwy.
Anyways, its running fine now...for now. I've heard getting a harness from a newer junk yard car and replacing anything that looks questionable with new wires. I've read a lot about soldering and shrink wrapping being a good permanent solution. That's where I'm at anyway, good luck to you.

Red face

well, I replaced the crank sensor yesterday. drove it got it good and hot, seemed ok. turned it off, turned it back on, started right up. took it on the road (yes, ventured out of the parking lot- how daring!!) for a 10 mile highway drive, seemed ok, so i drove it to work this morning ( with someone following me, just in case) its dorked with me so much about working-not working that im hesitant to give it a clean bill of health. so ill drive it over the next 3 days, and then on monday, i will proclaim fixed or no.

today, seemed ok at first. roads were a bit rough last night, so i couldn't tell if it was hesitating or just the road. so i drove it to work ( 16 miles, round trip) , seemed ok. not the smoothest, but ok. coming home, it seemed to run rough on the freeway. ok at stoplights tho. solid 950-1000 rpm. ran the codes when i got home, said : p0300 p0301 p0302 p0303 p0304 and the ever present p0442. im wondering if this is a repeat of the same symptoms, only worse, or if its a side effect of the seafoam. i only had about 1/4 tank when i added the bottle. i should have payed closer attention to the instructions, i know. so when i filled it to half yesterday, maybe it mixed it up a bit? ive never used that product before, so i dont know if thats normal, or something else wrong with my car. now im nervous to drive it to work in 11 hours. i dont want it to die on me on the freeway again. I dont have the tools ( but i think i might be able to borrow them) for a compression test.
timing belt? normal seafoam action? valve cover gasket/grommets? gah. wiring? the spark plug wires seem ok. and even then? before it was only cyl 1 and 3, now its all 4. what the hell!?!

yokotaashi Im afraid that for mine, it would be more patch than wiring, so to speak. i suppose a junkyard might be an option, but the odds to find a compatible if better condition one is pretty slim, i would think. I hope yorus stays running. mine keeps fakin me out - im fine, dead, fine, dead, fine, no, really, fine ... just kidding! dead..
gah

yes that is the life of Neon ownership it seems. I may try getting a spool of wiring and replacing only the wires to the sensors giving me codes. eh. I have bigger fish to fry--my new favorite engine is GM's LQ1 I happened across one in a 91 Pontiac GTP. Sweet sci-fi car.

the Pontiac looks like a fun sporty car
as an update, i have had no further issues with it stalling, and seems to be running ok, save for the misfiring on all cyl. i got a new valve cover kit, but i admit ive been lazy about replacing it. trying to snap the grommets in is a pain..
