Post 2000 dodge neon

turns out i have a timingbelt drivin waterpump. I have them both changed. my issue is the bottom crank turns so far to the right and it goes counterclockwise and stops. can anyone tell me what could be causing this?

appreciate your time and answer

Sounds like your timing is off and the pistons are meeting the valves. Did the belt break previously?

i would say yes. when i was driving i heard a werring noise, i pulled in to a safe spot and the car shut off. tried starting the car but all it did was keep turning over. when u look at the timing belt, the teeth were gone. the pump was locked up and you can metal when u shake the pump.

Good chance the valves are bent. Do a leak down test to confirm. or pull the valve cover and look at the valves to see if they are all stuck open.

You need a cylinder leak down differential tester and an air compressor. You put the cylinder being tested it the compression stroke to TDC. You then inject air intake the cylinder, the first gauge tells you how much your putting in, the second gauge shows how much its holding. Test it at 100psi, anything under 60psi the car will not start because of low compression, if the valves are bent open it will only hold 10-20 psi, maybe 0. You will also be able to listen where the air is going. If you hear the air leaking in the intake: Intake valves, exhaust: Exhaust Valves, Crankcase (oil cap): Blow by or possibly crack in block, or possible head gasket. Your timing would have to be pretty far off for the valves to kiss (noticeable on the timing marks), if the timing is off 1 or 2 teeth they wont kiss..
