Oxygen Sensor - Problem Code P0132
So my engine light on my 2003 Dodge Neon came on and I shot back P0132, which is "heated oxygen sensor - bank 1 sensor 1 high voltage."
I know this suggested a low content of oxygen. There are no other problem codes, and I am pretty sure there is no pressure regulator leaking happening, because I am not leaking any gas. In fact, I can't tell any ill effects - so questions:
1. What detrimental effects could this have on my car? I don't notice anything - it is running fine. Will it just hurt my gas mileage?
2. Is there any way to tell whether this is a real problem? I mean, if this is just a wiring thing, or a case of the car's computer being in error (this has happened to me before), I'd like to avoid bringing it to a shop.
3. Is this a fix I could do myself? Any sites on how to fix this problem? I am guessing I either need a new oxygen sensor or it is a wiring problem.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
