Default Front Driver Brake Failure - Twice in a row?

Vehicle Info:
1996 Dodge Neon Highline 2.0L SOHC

Long story short I bought "Grandma's Car" because it only has 32,000 original miles. The gentleman who sold it to me didn't advise that "grandma" had been dead for 5 years and the car had just been sitting. Anyway, he replaced the rotors and the brake pads. Two days after I bought the car the front driver brake caliper failed and the brake nearly caught fire. So I replaced both front calipers. This was fine for a while(about a month) then it became apparent the rotor had warped so I replaced the rotors "again" and the pads "again". Two days later the same brake failed. I did notice while changing the pads the piston on the driver side caliper did not want to retract easily.
So here is my question:
What are the chances that the caliper was faulty already when I changed the pads and rotors out? Or is there a larger problem I need to be concerned with like a Proportioning valve or the master cylinder or maybe a sensor or something else electronic? I don't want to go threw and replace the parts a 3rd time just to have it happen yet again.

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you should check your brake lines and master cylinder before buying another caliper.
