Default Oil Change

Recently bought a 2005 neon sxt with 125,000 miles want to change the oil but it says 5w-20 and here it gets to 110 degress what do you recommend oem oil or 10w-30 also want to use Castrol high mileage oil...any feedback would be appreciated Thanks

When you talk motor oil you can ask 5 people and you will get no less than 6 answers. Many car makers use 5w-20 oil to boost that stats on their cars like MPG and HP ratings.
I live on Maui and it's either warm or hot here all year round. If it's going to be that hot all summer I would go with the 10w-30. If your neon is going to be running a lot in the heat I would even consider synthetic. That is if your neon does not consume oil like mine does(1/2 qt per 500/700 miles with 175K).

Thanks and have decided to go with 10w-30 castrol high mileage since it a synthetic blend and a pure one filter hopefully mileage doesn't drop too much....
