2005 Dodge Neon SXT. On a Saturday evening I put my key I'm the ignition to start it, no noise from engine (no clicking or nothing). Lights come on and radio as well. My boyfriend tries to do a jump, still nothing. He thinks its the starter and hits it with a hammer. It starts right up. I head home and in the middle of driving the RPM's drop and car shifts hard so I head to the shoulder on 95 northbound. I slow down but car is still on so I put on my hazards and continue at 60 mph to my exit. Later on down the road the car interior lights dim and I lose control of the vehicle so I pull over in the side of the road and put the car in park. I try to start it back it and back to nothing. My brother in law comes to meet me and tries to bang the starter and no response this time. Checked relays and modules, all fine. Another guy stops over to help and he checks everything too. Checked my starter by using my jumper cables and they made it engage and start up. He mentioned something about my transponder key. When I put my key ignition to the point right before the starter mark, I notice lights on my dashboard, one in particular is a full red circle. I took it to a dealership and they said it was my starter and my battery because of corrision the alternator couldn't charge my battery while driving. I replaced my starter and cleaned off battery and charged it. I got new spark plugs and wires as well as a cam shaft / crankshaft sensor and still nothing. I can't tow it anymore and really don't have much money to dump into this car. I need help desperately please. I am still financing this car.
