Timing Belt, WP, Tensioner Service
Hi,
New to Forum. I just purchased a 2004 Dodge Neon with 133K miles for my Nephew and the previous owner did not replace the timing belt. I know, it must be done at 100K. I don't want to take a chance of breaking the engine. Is this something that can be done in my home garage? I have done oil changes in the past, but that's about it. Also, I see the Timing belt, WP, and tensioner kit sold on Ebay for around $70. Is that ok? Other suggestion? Also, I am in Chino Hills, CA and would like to know if help or assistance is available from a local forum member. Willing to pay if price is reasonable. Thanks

Also, I am trying to buy the parts from ebay, but there are so many different types and don't know which one should I buy. My car is a 2004 dodge neon SE non-turbo. I am not sure if is a SOHC or DOHC and if it is mechanical or hydraulic tensioner. How can I tell?
Thanks
Thanks
You have a sohc. Says that in the manual and under the hood. If you gave a jack & jack standsyou can do it. There are links on big org that break down the process. You will need to rent a harmonic balancer pulley puller from local parts store.
