Default 2000 ES model

Hey all, first post here..

Looking at buying a 2000 ES model, automatic with 90k miles, purple color.
Near as I can tell, it has all the options except sunroof. It's in fair shape for paint and interior, but ALL the trim is faded or blueing (I've seen this on a lot of dodges/pt cruisers), there is a scratch on the windshield that follows the wiper blade and both headlight (covers?) are hazed over.

I haven't test drove it yet, they are asking $4200 for it.

Anything neon specific things I should be looking for, and what price area should I get them to?

Hmm.. no replies at all..

Anyhoo.. I bought it, $4100 (original asking price was $4750).

So far no major problems, just minor ones..

Remote trunk release doesn't work (it actuates, but doesn't move the latch).
It looks like there's a spring or something that is suppose to connect the bar that moves to the latch, but since the latch assembly is rivetted together, it's kinda hard to tell!
Also, I've found no trunk release inside the car, only with the key fob, surely there is a button somewhere? I looked in the usual places (glove box and around the instrument clutster).

Center console latch spring broken/missing.

Dash lights sometimes flicker when on a medium setting, maybe an oxidized connection or loose ground?

Cooling fan seems to turn on before it should, after driving, I can stop at a stop light and within a few seconds the fan will come on. It's not overheating (runs at the 1st tick mark).
Maybe it's normal for it to come on so soon, I dunno, it doesn't stay running if I turn the engine off, like it does on most cars with electric fans.

If the weather holds out this weekend, I'm going to give it a good work over, oil and transmission fluid, plugs, etc, since I don't know when they were done last.

I've used about half a tank of gas for 170 miles so far.
Now, I need to figure out how to install my Double DIN head unit and 12 disc CD changer in there.

The only real problem that the Neon's had were with the 1st gen Neon's head gaskets, they were known for blowing out the original head gaskets. Other than that, nothing that I know of.

The 2000 is a second generation, the first gens stop at 99. I too have a 2000 neon; it has about 55,000 miles on it and so far I've had absolutely no problems to speak of with it.
