Default dodge neon 02 sxt headers?

What headers will actually fit my car? I found a pair on amazon that has 4 stars but no one got back to me yet if they will fit or not. I have a magnaflow cat question too.

What grade cat do I need to not set off a check engine light? Also I live in PA.

this one

Amazon.com: Magnaflow 23268 Direct Fit Catalytic Converter (Non CARB compliant): Automotive Amazon.com: Magnaflow 23268 Direct Fit Catalytic Converter (Non CARB compliant): Automotive

or this one

Amazon.com: Magnaflow 51166 Direct Fit Catalytic Converter: Automotive Amazon.com: Magnaflow 51166 Direct Fit Catalytic Converter: Automotive

What engine do you have? Don't know about the headers but there are not "grades" of cats. Any oem or aftermarket cat has to meet federal specs. If you are trying to free up the exhaust, get a high flow cat.

2.0 liter sohc vin c

And all the magna flow ones I looked at are high flow.

I just needed to know if pre OBll or federal OBll is required for my car. I just don't feel like getting a check engine light.

Thanks for a pretty quick response glad to know people still love their neons haha!

Just got 8mm wires new ignition coil K&N cool air intake getting the high flow cat and magna flow dual exhaust and I want headers too. I am looking to optimize the flow and hope to get some better fuel economy. I really only rev it to 2.75 or 3 rpms so I get 36-38 mpg already.

Have any tips for a noobie?

Your car is obd2 so you need to stick with emissions parts that are obd2 compliant. As far as the cat goes, obd2 just means it has a pre and post cat O2 sensor. Obd1 vehicles (prior to 1996) only have one pre cat sensor. Not much on neons, but I always tell people make sure your maintenance is up to date before sinking money into mods. If it's an interference engine, no sense spending money in a exhaust if your timing belt is old and snaps, ruining the engine.

oil change every 3k miles or 3 months
timing belt every 90k miles (mine was just done at 180k has 194k miles now)
spark plugs every 3-4 oil changes
tires rotated every 3 oil changes check the filter every 3 oil changes because I have a K&N it is never ever dirty!

I try to keep up with my car the best I can to make it last and have as good MPG as possible.

I plan to have it looked at on dyno after adding the parts to see if anything needs tweaking.

Does that sound like a good option to do?

Did I miss any regular maintenance's? I just want to make the car last as long as possible I hate these new cars too much to break in them!

When it comes to headers there are a few options for the SOHC...

http://www.modernperformance.com/cat...5-neon-exhaust

I used to use that site a lot. I used to run pacesetters before I turbo'd the SOHC. They worked alright but I saw little to any performance out of it... the sound wasn't bad though... just make sure you invest in some good clamps or WELD it, I had a BAD vibration from the clamps they provided not seating as tightly as the should. New bits and problem solved.

One thing you are going to have to remember is the ECU on the new gens is a locked map and what that means in layman's terms is that the ECU will constantly try to correct what ever you do to it to fit the maps provided. Unless someone has unlocked these things, been out of the neon game a while...

Good luck, if you have questions keep asking them here... plenty of knowledge on these boards.

Thanks for the replies not as many as i hoped but oh well haha!

I am just going to go with the ones from amazon. I am sure they are made fine and better then the pace setter ones. I have heard alot of negitive feed back from all pace setter products actually. I hope ordering the pair I found helps open up my exhaust a bit better. All depends how smooth the pipe is too. I heard pace setter has dripped pipes.

What turbo and manifold did you put on your neon?

I used the stock SRT-4 turbo manifold and an adapter plate. Worked like a dream.
