a/c wont work????
HI again... I got another problem...
My a/c compressor wont kick on. I tested voltage to the comperssor from the harness to the first pressure switch, shich in turn runs to the clutch power supply. I tried swapping out the relays and no help, and checked the fuses..
Has anyone had this troube and know what the solution is??
Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem with the A/C. I have a 1995 Neon, SOHC and the A/C compressor and fan just stopped working. If I ground the relay everything kicks on ok so I thought it might be the switch in the dash but replacing it didn't help...
Wow!, Im glad I checked this. I did the same thing with the relay. I was about to replace the switch. The fan works in all positions but the clutch wont kick on. I checked the ac low pressure side, and it had less than 10 psi. Im hoping I can jump the relay and recharge the system. Possibly its the pressure switch, since the "freon" is low.
I haven't had the time to check the pressures... I would think that the clutch would cycle or at least the fan would still turn on, though. I don't have the wiring diagrams so it's hard to tell if the wiring from the switch to the relay is working correctly... There seems to be a few of us with the same problem and that's kinda interesting... Lemme know if you come up with anything! It's starting to get hot outside... =)
The A/C relay is under the hood with the other relays on the '95 model. It's probably the same in '98... With the relay still plugged in but partially puuled up to reveal the metal prongs, if you temporarily bridge the power and ground the compressor and fan should kick on if that side is working.
I have a 95 neon and had the same problem. It turns out that I had a small leak on one of the seals on the compressor. When the freon got too low, nothing would turn on unless I bridged the switch. On the Neons you should start to see some green residue near any leaks if any. Or you can use a black light to find leaks. My guess, and its very common, is the seal on the compressor.

Ok, so I charged up the R-134A and the system now comes on with the switch and the compressor even cycles but it doesn't get cold. With the pressure gauge still hooked up you can see it compress and then expand but no cold. Plugged orifice tube? Bad cycling switch? Any ideas??
Hi,new guy here I have a 97 neon, one of the air conditioning hoses has a small pinhole in it,all the freon leaked out.and now I dont know how to fix it.It's one of the aluminium hoses, the small diameter one.I didnt mean to hijack the post,I have a 2 year old little girl and summer is here and she's miserable in this heat. Can I patch or fix this pinhole. Thanks
