the 2.4 l turbo pt cruiser engine is basically the same as the srt-4's

im sure theyre pretty hard to find...even if you can get one (porbably through special order (read:$$)) remember that engine swaps can cost a hell of a lot and they take time, not to mention all the things that can go wrong

the amount you pay for it (parts and labor) probably isnt worth the performance you get in the long run
you mind as will mod it up and make the best of the 2.0
or...for the amount the conversion would cost, you could also probably buy a pretty fast car, if speed is your biggest concern

why do you want an engine conversion so much? Is the engine in your current neon bad, or just not powerful enough?

peace

well, the 2.0l thats in my neon now has about 250,000 miles on it, so ya its bad, and my dad plans to put about $3000.00 to rebuild it, and i think thats perty retarted to do that when i could get something better, so about $1500.00 for the new 2.4 motor that leaves me with $1500.00 to spare, do ya'll think that would be enough to cover for the conversion and all the other fees?.....

The 2.4L is a good easy swap from what I've read, I know you will need some of the wiring and computer from the 2.4L to go with it.

You should do any swap you want. Try it if you have spare time/money/energy.

Swaps are fun.

However. . . I rebuilt my SOHC for well less than $1000 and that was with some headwork done at another shop and a Crane Cam. You'd be better off buying your own honing kit and rebuilding yourself . . . does your dad have the tools? Why $3000? I even swapped to manual rack, new tie rods, new clutch, etc.,etc. for all that. Pieces are cheap on these cars.

Otherwise, check neons.org swap forum. Good instructions there. You'd be better off trying a 2.4 with Neon DOHC 2.0 electronics. If you bore it and bump up compression to 10.5:1, remove the balancer shaft and work it up nice (for $3000 total) you're talkin' a pretty obtainable high 13 second quarter mile and still run on pump regular. Consider it. . .it's the easiest swap out there for the neon because you use stock DOHC electronics.

Me. . . I'm pretty much set on cutting up my car and trying a 2.7 V-6 swap. Good luck to you!
