Default Bad Alternator

Will a poor alternator cause your car to run sluggish?

All the alternator really does is recharge your battery while the car is running. That's not all it does, but its like 95% of its job function.

However, if the alternator is faulty or going bad, it can cause the car to seem like its running on a low battery and act somewhat sluggish. You would notice the lights getting dim and anything electrical would seem slow.

It can, but it's not the only thing that can. If you've eliminated every other option, you can pull the alternator and take it to a parts store (Autozone) and get it checked out for free. When my alt was going, it was making an odd noise, the lights on the dash would flicker, the radio would cut out, the car would occasionally buck, but I don't think I'd call it sluggish...

Best of luck!

The reason I ask is because I know the alternator I have is bad, at 18 when it should be at 100. My plugs and wires are months old so I dont think its that. It could Possibly be my coil pack couldndt it?
