Default The two best ( and reasonable)upgrades.......

Okay, I have a 2000 Neon, 4 Door. I want to increase the power just a little, but don't have big money to spent. Which are the two most cost effective ways to increase performance? I was thinking CAI and Exhaust......but I would really hear what you guys have to say about that. Also, if you just get the exhaust back end, doesn't that DECREASE the performance? I've heard you need to do the whole exhaust system.......

Thank you!

You do not need to do the entire exhaust to get gains in power and performance. A simple muffler swap can and will help. I would first suggest CAI. The other is a toss up between an upgraded PCM(computer) and an exhaust, both have their pluses and minuses. I would probably go with the upgraded PCM.

Thanks for responding. I already ordered the AEM V2 CAI. What exhaust should I put on. I was thinking about puting the Trubenz exhaust. What do you think of that or what could you recommend? The site is www.trubendz.com. They said it will add 4-8 horsepower at the wheels.
Will the PCM reduce the life of your car?

It won't do any more "damage" than a custom exhaust or CAI. It just uses more of the engine's potential...[&:]

What about the exhaust? What do you recommend? I was looking at TruBendz exhaust systems. Has anyone heard about them?

I would like to, but I got a HTTP error 403 (forbidden) so I cannot see the exhaust. The PCM only changes the timing and fuel to maximize power output, it will only drop your fuel mileage slightly if you keep your foot in the throttle. The best PCM is the AF/X PCM from Howell Automotive. You will want the street/strip PCM and not the race only PCM.
