I dont get it.

Today i was driving, my friend popped it into Neutral and i revved it and dropped it into gear, the car died!!

It stumbled then died just from that

and now the RED solid light is on on the dashboard

WHAT DO I DO?

This has happened to me 3 times before. I dont get it

My neon went out today at a corner, right in the freaking middle of a busy road, and I had to back down in neutral until I could roll--backwards--into a resteraunt parking lot. Trying to wave semis around your dead car while inching backwards down a four-lane strip is not a fun experience. And yeah, the signature is pretty ironic ...

I'd try pulling the negative from the battery. It'll reset the PCM, the radio, and everything else on the car (hopefully). Don't know if the Sentry anti-theft system will reset, first I've heard of this happening (1st gens didn't have the system).

By the way, you realize how stupid a tranny drop is, right?

 

Yes i know. I didnt do it on purpose, obviously.

I pulled the battery to have it reset and it still is weird, i dont get it.

One quick fix for you sentry key system, and the FIRST step to troubleshooting this is to put the key in, turn it to on, DO NOT CRANK THE ENGINE, listen for long tone (longer than the ding, ding, ding, you would normaly hear) this programs the chip in the key, more than likely, it went blank, mine did it a while ago, that step fixed it in a hurry.

One thing about taking off like that. Don't do it, it's NOT good for the tranny.

 

Have same problem. Theft light came on for no reason and now car wont start. disconnecting battery will not reset this. can someone tell me how to defeat this non functioning system? We should have a class action suit about this. When we buy a car we should own all of it, including the codes required to make it run; which are secretly held by the dealers.

 

I have the same problem now my neon 2003 sxt doesnt move
