It must never rust where you are at then if you think a normal impact can take most of them off....better have a 3/4....We live in the midwest north and have to damn near stand on every breaker bar/cheater bar combo just to get most of them to move for every CV I've done....
That's all I do.....I've had to do it on every single FWD car I've owned....damned thing wouldnt come off for the life of me.....get it balanced and stand on it and just put enough weight on it to stand and bounce one good time.....usually breaks loose just enough...

It's also a very good idea to clean the threads and the nut when you have it completely off. Scrub it nice and clean with a wire brush and maybe a lil rust remover to clean them up real nice. When ever I do my brakes, I break that nut loose so that I can keep it clean. I'll be doing that very shortly for my Stratus in fact..

Never-seize is a great product.
