lowering springs
What lowering springs? ebay coilover sleeves? don't...
The springs on the 2000-up neons are 1-1.5" taller (compressed). So 1.5" lowering springs for a 2nd gen will keep you at your stock height. Those ebay deals claim to be a universal fit and will lower any car up to 4" or whatever. They don't. It's a boldfaced lie, just like the $15 chips for an instant 20+ HP...
The spring dimensions, other than height, are the same between the 1st and 2nd gen Neons. In fact, the stock 1st gen ACR springs are sold as Mopar lowering springs for 2nd gens...
The 1st gen Neon struts (unless you have an ACR with Koni's) will not tolerate stiffer springs or lower springs very well. There just isn't enough suspension travel, and even the Mopar High Rates are too stiff for the stock R/T struts (stiffest, other than Koni's). KYB GR-2's, Monroes, Gabriels, etc. are valved the same as the R/T struts, which are the same as the Base model struts... They won't hold up either.
Best of luck!
