Default Crazy Mod, for the poor-man.

Well I was wanting to put some kind of "force-air" in my 97 neon so that it doesn't have to "suck" air in. So I got to working and I have aquired an a/c blower from an expedition's rear a/c unit. I kept the wire harness and it blows like 30-40 mph on high. So i'm removing the stock air intake setup. I'm "ghetto" modfying my battery to the trunk with the factory hardware and two 20' long amplifier cable, I think its 4 gauge. I then got an air intake tube from a 2004 celica, because it was flexable rubber and it was the exact shape that I need. Now the a/c blower is going to hook in and i'll get one of those cone filters for the actual filter and put it under the car some where. So now i have two problems. 1) the a/c blower output is in the shape of a square and the tube is a circle, of course. I need some kind of adapter or something, suggestions are welcome. and 2) If this is even a freaken good idea, I thought it was cause the air will now be forced in instead of sucked in. Total cost, since I work in a body shop anyways, is only the cables , I don't know how much the other stuff will cost in the junk yard. So help me out here people.

Yeh, I know that, it'll be alot better because it will be sucking alot slower with less restriction than if I had the stock intake on it. I'll probably have to make my own adapter for the a/c unit and the intake tube itself. Suggestions are welcome.

Man whatever you do i want to see !!!!!.

b.t.w) what about the exhaust, are you running stock or aftermarket ??. like "Aricjm15" said you'll be sucking more air then you can push out so it might not be a good idea ( just yet )

BE CAREFUL !!!!!!!!

Oh dang, so thats what he asked, I thought he was talking about something else. Well i got that figured out. Since mine is an SOHC i'm going to go to the junk yard and get a DOHC muffler, since they are high-flow from the get go. But i'll check the price on other high-flow mufflers before i actually make a decision. I will put up pictures of the a/c unit and what i'm gonna do with it, maybe a video. Yeh, i'll keep you guys posted on what i do.

This will be like a low flow supercharger, but without the ability to actually force more air in. It may slightly improve performance, but the engine itself will dictate how much actually gets in.

no thats not what I meant
but yeah you can gain 6hp or more by getting a better muffler

if that fan cant push more air than 320 CFM it will just be another thing in the way for the intake
also remember that when you draw more current from the electrical system its harder for the alternator to spin due to the extra load, on average you loose 6hp with your headlights turned on.
Are you going to be using the actual AC part as well to cool the air?

No, i'm not going to be using the entire assembly, just the blower. If i had gotten the entire assembly it woulda been too big to put anywhere cause it was off of that SUV. It can definatly push more than 320 cfm. It pactically jumps out of my hand when I turn it on high. I don't have A/C anyways, heh. I'm working on it just need to get that muffler, thats all . I was thinking about taking the one i have now and torching it open and removing everything inside, then welding it back together...but thats too much to do. heh Alright if anything changes i'll post it on here.

Default UPdate on Progress

Update on my progress. Well i'm all ready for the installation, just that i'm currently looking for that 95 DOHC muffler. Thats it, hehe. I might just go with the flowmaster at a local shop around here. But i'll wait some more to see if it comes in. Um.....I hope that this mod will remove the "delay" in the acceleration when i press it down . I have added some hyper white turn signals though, i don't know if they illegal or not, but i haven't been pulled over yet! I'll post more in like 2 weeks. - peace
