Default RPM Limiter !!!

is there a way to remove the rev limit on the neon, 02 se 4 door auto to be exact. when you put the car into neutral and rev, it seems to goto about 3 maybe 4-5 thousand and then it cuts off. wont let you rev any higher. there's got to be a way to take that limiter off and or change the max setting on it ???

Anybody !?!?!!?!?

Why do you want to rev the engine up that high with no load????

To answer your question, I have not seen a way to bypass the rev limiter, It's part of the programming!!!!

No, you cannot remove/change, or modify the factory rev limiter. A neon isn't staying together long at 5-7K anyway-not to mention its WAY past its peak power by then.

It should rev past 3-4K even 5K, should go to redline, but it will only go so high because the camshaft in addition to a computer will tell you when you're done reving.

If you bring the RPM's up that high and slam it into gear, the only thing your going to be doing is picking up transmission peices off the ground provided some of it doesn't come through the firewall and send you to the morgue. Even if it did hold up, which it wouldn't, all you would be doing is sitting there spinning your tire.

Not all honda's can rev like crazy. What you are probably referring to is honda's with Vtec, aka, Variable valve timing and lift electronic control. Basically what it does is smooths out the power curve. It's basically meant for gas mileage because most people drive at low rpms but it allows for making high power at high rpms because at certain rpm the computer changes the cams timing. So its kinda like it has a low speed camshaft and a high speed camshaft. Hope I got that basically right, and that it helps.[sm=smiley17.gif] I'm still waiting for the day when i can run a stock Civic with vtec, see who takes that one, the driver would be the difference in that race.

Yep, it's the V-Tech thing. They have to hit 9,999,999,999 RPM's[sm=smiley36.gif] before they even start to produce any power.
