My wife has an '02 Neon SXT that has gradually had harder and harder shifts over the past month. Finally threw an engine code and went into limp mode- code was outbound speed sensor. I replaced it, car was working fine for a few days, now same thing is happening except before the speedo was somewhat erratic, now the speedo is completely dead. Is my new speed sensor faulty or do I have bad wiring? The old speed sensor did have a bit of mettalic dust on it (could have fouled the sensor?), I wiped off the dust from the magnetic end and it still did not work. New sensor worked fine for the past week. I am going to take it in and have the tranmission flushed completely.

Any help, or should I just take it to a transmission shop?
