Mopar Short Throw Installed!!!!
I just installed my mopar short throw and I have to say this thing is amazing. I never realized how sloppy the stock shifter was until I installed this thing. The short throw firmed the shifts right up. Like I've been hearing from most the SRT4 boys, it seems like it shortened 1-3-5 shifts more so then 2 and 4. When I first got in to drive it and test it out I didn't realize it was in first gear so after I had started it and let the clutch out it jumped forward and of course stalled. My friend had been messing with it prior to me starting it up and I didn't realize it wasn't in neutral since I wasn't used to it. Anyhow, I would highly recommend this short throw to anyone with a neon or SRT4 cause this thing rocks. I'll probably drop a tenth or two in quarter mile because of it. Just amazing, great buy for the money. So happy![sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley32.gif][sm=smiley31.gif]

RE: Mopar Short Throw Installed!!!!
so where did you get it? I saw at teh moparperformance it was on sale for 116. So do you have to get under the car to put it in? or is it easily done from the inside? That may be my very first mod because I don't like the shifting that much, Feels to sloppy. I test drove a Scion and the shifting was pretty nice. But the dodge had a more powerful engine and more room and a better price. Plus it is a Dodge.
I like to do my own work because of the thrill of doing it myself and the satisfaction of having it work. The only thing I can't do is weld.

Install is very easy, minus the stupid black clips which i'll explain later. No, you don't need to get under the car. Okay, heres how you do it. First, take out your center console. There are 4 screws in the bottom of the compartment thing and also one in the cupholder. After you do that you can take the entire plastic console out. You'll need to have your parking brake cranked up as far as it goes because its tight getting it off. The center console is plastic and bends a lot so that helps out a lot. After you get that out of your way I would get the stupid black clips off that hold the cables to the shifter mechanism. I used a set of pliers and just pulled on them like crazy, don't worry they won't break. After that you just pop the cables off the old shifter, unbolt 4 bolts that holds the shifter mechanism down. Get the new short throw shifter mechanism, bolt it down, pop the cables back on, put the clips back on, put center console back and you're good to go. Took me about 15 minutes once I figured out how to get the clips off. I got mine from Dodge Parts.com for roughly the same price as that. This shifter is easily worth the money. All the shifts are very firm now, the stock one is incredibly sloppy compared to this one. Its an easy mod though, you shouldn't have a problem doing it yourself if you get one. Not many tools are necessary to do it.
BTW...you need a new shift boot and ****, since the SXT **** (if you can call it a ****, its more like a baseball if you ask me, LOL) and boot will not fit it, just a little extra info for ya.

I got mine for $120 at Modern Performance and that included the booger bushings, it's $100 without the booger bushings.
