I really dont even know where to begin, I have a 1998 neon and I'm looking to put in an aftermarket shift **** to replace the dull stock one. Please help!

 

there aren't to many available for the neon because of its side design ( unless you have one that the button you push in is not on the side ) but its still acheivable, first you have to unbolt you center console there is one in each cup holder, 4 on the inside of the arm rest compartment, its at the very bottom, then at the very back on the bottom hidden by removalbe panels is a bolt on each side, when you have completely unbolted it stick you key in the ingnition and and shift to D2 and pull your emergency brake as far as it can go back, from here you can either take out your seats so that when you take the console out its comes out easier or just have at it that way when you have decided which way your gona go and the console is removed shift it to neutral. there are for bolts from here as you will see one on each corner( while doing all of this be carefull not to bang up the airbag module and emerge brake lines) from there its just a matter of some more un bolting but thats about it, Good luck and hope some of that was helpfull !!!

since you are just wanting to remove the shift ****....
under the button on the side there is a little hole..inside that hole there is a small allen head set screw....
remove the screw and pull the whole **** straight up....
thats all...

 

That too, I just wanted my center console painted and the shift hand housing painted ( the reverse,drive and neutral thingy)
