Default Odd Neon Question

I bought a Pontiac Sunfire a while ago and fell in love with it for three days. After those days were up, a handful of my friends completely ruined it for me by not only looking down on it but calling it a "femmy" and "queer" car, where the majority of its drivers are female. My heart sank, and after two years I have never enjoyed driving it. Whats more is that I have since noticed that the majority of its owners / drivers are women. I never thought there was such a thing as a gender-defining car, but if there is such a thing, it's the sunfire. I was such an idiot to buy without thinking, which is why I'm doing this differently.

This brings me to my next issue: I have discovered the Neon RX, there is a '99 model at my local dealer with 48k miles, power everything, moon roof and manual transmission. Even better, it has the deep metallic blue with white racing stripes. The only problem I have with it are the seat covers (which I don't know if can be changed) but they look like blue confetti. I suppose it's minor...But NOW for the HUGE questions of the day (you saw this coming): Is this the SUNFIRE EQUIVALENT in Dodge Neon's clothing? Could this car be considered a female sports car as well? From my view, it looks great, but a car helps to add to or destroy someone's image. I wish I had the money for a real sports car (viper) or an old muscle car I could spend thousands of dollars on refining and upkeeping...But I am a poor college student who needs a fun ride on a fairly low budget. So I guess this is really a poll...I'm a straight male, I'm 22 years old, and I just want a cool car that chicks dig and others can look at and say "cool" rather than "queer"...

Thanks.

Well, I've had a Neon for four years. I'm 22, go to school, and haven't had that problem. Just add the evil eye brows and that will give the car a whole new attitude.

And if any of those friends drive VW's, just remind them that VW is the only auto maker that has a flower vase from the factory in the dash. See the beetle.

Definatlty not a female sport car. There are a alot of guys on here that have a neon. Hell check out neon.org. alot of guys have neons on there. Neons have an awesome price and can be modded easily.

Besides it shouldn't be what others think, but whether you like it and have fun with it. I have a friend that tried to knock mine, because he is for one an idiot, and 2 if you don't have a chevy then you are not sh&*. Plus I traded in my chevy truck for this. I told him to F&^$ off because i had to get it for financial reasons as well. He hasn't said crap to me since,

oh and yeah the car is an r/t, unless i dont know. ive never heard of rx besides prescription. anyways as far as your car, the r/t is the best neon out available besides the new srt-4. if you treat the car right, it will run good for a long time. also the gas mileage is wonderful. i got a 98 r/t for a year and a half now and nothing wrong has happened to it besides normal maintenence. you shouldnt worry about wha your peoples are saying. thats your car, and with good tuning, will be uble to run past them.

I race a Neon - However there is one Female Race Driver that I compete against in the Neon - I think she has a 99 Neon where mine is a 96.

All Neon's are looked down upon by some as a girlie car. I heard those same comments about my R/T, but the funny thing is that none of these loud mouths would line up what they have against me and my "girlie" car. The Neon's have a long and proud racing heritage that caused several rule changes due to it's high winning rate. The ONLY reason that I don't still own my R/T is because I can only afford one car payment at a time and the SRT-4 could not be resisted any longer. Here is a few pics of my R/T:

And here is proof that it's a girlie car.........my kinda girlie car[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]:

LOL, that is my kind of girlie car as well. HAHA. But the perception I get from people is: "you drive what.....a neon?" Basically they think the car sucks, well I can tell you that my friends that used to think that do not anymore now that they've seen what it does and because they know if they rip on it I'll kick their ****. First literally, then with my car after I mod it some more. Most people don't give the neon a chance, they just classify into "that sucks, I'm sorry" group of cars. Which its not.
