Default CD players

I just got a new 04 Neon SXT and I was wanting to upgrade the CD player and maybe put a new sub and amp in, but im not too experienced seeing as this is my first car but i had a question. I want one of the fold open CD players but i am not sure if it will fit correctly. The one now has curved edges and i was looking at regular rectangular CD players. So i am not sure if it will fit correctly. Just tell me if it will fit ok or if i need it to be customized to fit.
Thanks

Your good to go on any aftermarket CD unit you want. You will need to buy an install kit to put in an aftermarket CD player and they have the proper rounded corners to make it look perfect. I have one for my '04 SRT-4 so that I can install my Alpine CD player into it. You will also want to get a wiring harness adapter, so that your not having to hack up the factory wiring harness to hook it up. It simply wires up to your aftermarket CD players wiring harness and then you can just plug that harness into the factory stereos harness and your done. Nice, clean, simple and easy.

I don't know where you are at, But you can goto any store like Best Buy or Circuit ****ty. I mean City. Or Al and Ed's the kit is about $18 and the harness is about 5 to 10. Can't really rememebr the price.
Goto the following link and you will see how mine looks after I intalled my aftermarket stereo

Yeah yours looks pretty sweet. I did some searching and I found an installation kit on cardomain.com and it comes free with a CD player if i do buy it from there. It only costs $6 bucks anyway. Ill post up pics after i put mine in.

You will also need an antenna adaptor too... Chrysler changed that in 2000 and now all the newer cars need the plug. You can find that at the shop where you pick up you harness and mounting kit. Try to get an AI (American International) kit for your mounting kit. They are better looking and stronger than the Metra kits that circuit city carries. Hope this helps....

That's the first I've heard of that. I know that GM has been that way for better than a decade now, but I've never heard of Chrysler having that difference.

Yes there is a difference, I experienced it first hand with my 04 SXT. I didn't get the extension, I took the one that I had for my POS Silverado and took the correct end for the stereo then took off the end in the NEON and crimped the correct end for the stereo on the antenna cable.

If you got the money I would recomend getting this deck
http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/pr...productId=2561
I know a guy with one installed and it has to be one of the best deck I have ever seen or heard. That deck is absolutly amazing. SRS WOW has to be the best feature ever even with entry level speakers (stock or a touch better) you can turn it up all the way and it won't distort at all.
If you can't see yourself spending quite that much you should consider this deck:

I just bought this deck and installed it in my altima it the best deck I have ever had. (I just replaced a pioneer 8200). I have to admit I never been a big fan of kenwood decks (the one in my friends mazdaspeed protege suck ***) until now.

I would have to agree with Altima, I like the Kenwoods. I had one in my truck and it got stolen, and when the insurance comapany replaced it they replaced it with the Alpine. Alpines are not bad, but I liked my Kenwood much better. The controls were much easier to use. And I found the sound was better and with the ease of the controls I could get the sound crisper.
