MY CAR SAID DONE ... I SAID ... WHAT DO YOU MEAN DONE!!!!
My 2004 dodge neon SXT will not start. All of this started about a month ago, when you turned the key it would click once and that was it just one click, we thought it was the starter or the battery. So we tested the battery and it was bad, baught a new battery ... then the next day same problem, it wouldn't start, so we pulled the starter had it tested it was fine and checked the cable that runs from the starter to the battery, everything was fine, we put the starter back in and poof it started again and has been running fine, HOWEVER today went to start my car and nothing no click or anything, the battery isn't dead however i tried jumping the car anyway, still nothing, all the lights come on everything works fine, but the car won't start, the whole point of this question when you try to start it several time over again, it says "done" (in the little digital window where the mileage shows) WHAT DOES DONE MEAN! I have asked the dodge dealership, they said "i don't have a clue". Does anyone have a clue as to what it may be?[:@]
In the case of my Neon it stalled at the bottom of my hill and wouldn't start up, even with jumpering. Replaced the starter. But what the hell is "done"?
exactly ... what the hell is done ... no one knows ... when i gave up i was sooo mad i started laughing thinking that i was on candid camera or something ... i just don't understand i have taken such good care of it ... i baught it brand new so i know it wasn't driven in to the ground by a previous owner
You were doing the key dance.
Turning the key to accessories and back to off 4 times allows the
car to run codes to tell you if there is a problem.
If it just says "Done" then the PCM did not detect a problem...
When there is one.
You have an '04 so I assume you're still under warranty,
so I suggest taking it to the dealer.

I don't think starter is powertrain. Should be straightforward, might even be doable by self. I think the starter is the doodad on the front bottom of the engine? It's the source of one of the power cables that runs over the PCV, at least on my Neon...at least I *think* that doodad is the starter. :|
