Just a little thought I had off the top of my head and I was wondering if it is actually possible?

I have a 97 Neon thats a 2.0 SOHC and I was wondering if I were able to unbolt just the top cylinder head off of my SHOC engine, and install a DOHC cylinder head to my block?

I never knew if the block was the same or different for both engines? I know the belts and all that would have to be longer but other then that I'm in the dark with this one. What do you think!!??

 

If I remember correctly the pistons are different on the 2 engines. There would be some interference with the valves.

 

That is Funny you posted this question - I was just talking to the guys at the dealership and I asked the same question.

I am wanting to build up a Rally car to experience some off road racing. I don't want to mess up my Club Car.

I found two neon on ebay - 1 was a SOHC and the other is a DOHC with a bad tranny - was going to swap the two motors - but asked if there was a short cut and try to swap the two heads - they are looking into it - for the most part they did not see a reason since the bottom of the engines have not changed much - I should have my DOHC off ebay sometime next week and will probably try it!

If you do find out would you please let me know? This is something I was wondering for wuite sometime now and I dont want to sink money into another head if its no good. Thanks for the reply's

 

I have notice that the DOHC should be here next week Tuesday - If works schedule does not interfer - I will start the transformation of my SOHC to DOHC!
