I'm looking to join the Neon family because I have to get a car for college this year! I have $8000 and it's all going towards the car. I'm looking at these cars, and Protege's, and pretty much whatever deal comes up I'm gonna grab.
Just hoping you guys can fill me in on some of the need-to-know stuff about Neons.
Especially when buying, what are the things to look for?

Also, what do you guys think of these adds?:

I'm interested in the second one, but whats the deal with the new engine.. that sounds a bit iffy to say the least.

Yeah, the second one is the one that I would be interested in too. New engine? Could be a good thing for you... That means that there is less wear and tear on the engine and it might last longer than the first one you have mentioned. Neons are a great car to have, regardless of some people's negative beliefs on them. But, in the end, the choice is yours.

If you can find one with a 5spd I would highly recommend it.

another Q.. whats the difference between LX and LE
I've emailed the guy with the second car, finding out if its 5 spd or not, we'll soon see!

OK Heres the deatails on the car (it's the second add in the original post)

-automatic
-new tires have seen 480km's
-new motor has seen 480km's
this is the explanation they gave me for getting the new motor, opinions? "[know neon prob, which Chrysler won't acknowledge; head gasket blows at 120K]"
-car is certified, used vehicle package is purchased & available [no previous
owners]
-have vehicle maintenance history

too bad it's auto, but i cant be too picky right now, the price is right. what u guys think... ?

They don't all blow headgaskets but it is fairly common.

I'd do it.

and if i were u id chose the second one cuz of the new motor n tires n the fact that its fully loaded and 2nd gen neons look awwwesome when they're fully loaded. and thats assuming the car reallly has a new motor...but i'd double check with the seller
