Default This is what happens.....

When things aren't used. They break/rot. For a while I've been hearing a clunk as I drove. Well, tonight on my way back to work for good 'ol overtime the sound got a bit more prominent. So, after I pull up to my buddy's house to meet him for work I decide to crawl under the back of the car to see what is going on.

Todd, begins to laugh as I grab the hot exhaust pipe and move it about 6" up and down. "Well, isn't that f0ckin' great!" I say as I am doing this. My rear driver's side hanger snapped in half. So,. since my weekend is tied up between work, horseback riding with a chick and a club meeting it looks like it's gonna be ghetto-fied.

Coat hanger + $800 exhaust system = GHETTO. Untill I can get a new hanger and convince my buddy Chris to weld it up for free.

This is what happens when you have a company vehicle and your baby sits for 3 weeks.

OMG!! I'm so sorry to hear that!! But you sounds like you are taking it in stride.

You made me laugh outloud with the coat hanger + $800 = GHETTO remark!! [sm=icon_rofl.gif]

Eh...When you do what I do for a living you find the weirdest things broken so when it comes to my car, since I do all the maintenance on it myself I find this kinda stuff funny.

My entire exhaust system was cutom built and cost me a little less than $800 I just think it's pretty bad that I spent that much money and have had to replace the cat twice, get rid of the resonator because it sounded to raspy and replaced that with a 31" glasspack and now a $4 hanger is rotted. When I had it built I specifically asked for stainless everything and was told that I got stainless. Now after 3 years I'm finding that the only thing stainless was the piping itself, everything else is that mild steel crap. Kinda annoying but it's still a kick *** setup.

31" glasspack, no muffler dual pipes right out the back. Sounds mean as hell.

Who would've thought that using a coat hanger to hang an exhaust pipe would take 40 minutes.

I went out there with the coat hanger an pair of pliers and a pair of channel locks thinking this is going to take 5 minutes and my clothes wouldn't get too terribly dirty and I wouldn't get too terribly dirty.

Well. I thought wrong. 40 minutes later and the exhaust pipe is temporarily hung using a coat hanger untill I can find a shop who will weld a new hanger on without charging me my soul or trying to convince me that I need a new exhaust. My arms are pitch black, my hands are pitch black, my face is black I need to wash my jeans, my shirt and take a shower before I go out to look at mountain bikes and see AVP.

Exhaust work is never a 5 minute job it always takes forever. I hate doing exhaust work. Thats why i have a really bad habit of haveing everything replaced when one part goes.

I've also decided not to have it fixed. Figured theres no real point since the entire exhaust is coming off to do the turbo.
