Default turbo kit

so i was cruising through modern performance dreaming about all the toys i wish i could afford to buy (which i've been doing far too much lately)when i came across this site. as i read it i damn near crapped my pants!!! it says it can support over 600hp!!! basically i'm wondering, is ther anybody out there in df land that has done this to their neon? first or second gen? if anyone does in fact have a 600+ hp neon, i would love to hear about it. i gotta know what that's like.

If you think thats crazy, check this one out! Granted this one is really expensive, but it includes everything you would need for a lot of power.

Yes the turbo kit can support over 600hp but your engine is going to be your limiting factor. I would say that with a full engine build and a full standalone you possible might be able to see 600hp but your looking at, at least 10 grand on top of that kit to get there. It takes lots of money to go fast.

On a side note one of my fellow altima owners just put down 375hp at the wheels at only 12psi boost, and thats his street tune. I can't wait till I see numbers for his race tune (20psi or better).

Or you could get this setup:
http://www.modernperformance.com/dcx...act_kits.shtml
seen as it comes with all of the same turbo parts it just missing all of the engine internals. Which you can either get before or after the install of the turbo. That way you can make the leap in to the boosted world a little easier on the pocket book. The above kit is on the list for project neon. Gonna be a year or so yet.

remember too that saying a product can support XXX horsepower is a way of dumbing-down what the product can flow at max. For example, a High Flow fuel pump might say it can support 400 HP, but what they really mean is, we can flow a maximum of XXX lbs per minute and that's about how much you'd need to flow to make 400 HP.

I read once on Allpar that the engineers for the 420A figure the engine can handle at max 330 HP. So. . . if you think you're heading towards 300 HP you should SERIOUSLY consider a bottom end build up that can handle it. . . .like one of the performance bottom end kits that modern offers. You may also want to lower compression to the turbo piston so you can run more pressure to obtain those numbers.

Is anyone running 600 HP with a Chryco 2.0 liter? Yes--in FWD/compact drag racing I believe I've read of a few. . . but you're not going to met a 600 HP neon at the 7/11. The chassis/tranny axle's etc. need a lot of attention for this too.

You neon guys are lucky 300 hp on the stock bottom end. My altimas bottom end can only stand about 240 before the rods will bust. Damn light weight alloy ****.

'Tis truly a blessing. Take a look at the short block and you'll see why they claim this. The reinforcement girdle is very much like the ones used in circle track racing etc---IE: super high revving V-8's. the 420A is a GREAT design on the bottom and top end.

However, before you go about misquoting me--it's not the whole drivetrain that can support 330--just the block. You'll start breaking axles, etc if you make too much torque.

The ka2de(altima engine) block is one of the strongest blocks out there, it has the same kind of gridle like the neon block along with oil squirters that cool the pistons. Nissan just screwed up and put wimpy rods and pistons in it. So far the most put down at the wheels by an altima is 435hp but that was a quick untuned lets see what it will do at 20psi. But that same guy just put down 375hp at a very well tuned 12 psi of boost. He says it enough to burn the tires all the way through 3rd gear. He is waiting till he gets a few more miles on before he gets a race tune setup for 20psi.
