Default Major Problem!!

Ok got a 1999 Dodge Neon and I went driving to get my glasses repaired so I finally stop and when I pull the key out of the ignition, the whole like cylinder (i dunno the word for it...switch?) comes out with it? and my car is still running. So I didnt know what the hell to think. So i ended up kinda bending back the plastic around it. and now I have to put the key in the cylinder and then plug it into like this socket (i dunno the word either). to make it stop or start. Very strange anybody know how to get that thing to stay and not keep pulling out?

You whave to replace it. Its called a lock cylinder, I am not sure if you can get at regular partstores you will probably end up at a dealer to get the part. As to installing it you have to tear apart the streeing column.

I'd replace it. That really isn't something you want to be able to come out of the car. A car can be started without it which is bad news for you but good news for car thiefs.

Not sure what it'l cost but it's not something you should leave.

Your best bet would be to go to the dealer and get a new cylinder they'll also be able to either key it to your current key or re-key it completely.
