Code 31
I recentlly started to get a code 31 form my car. Code 31 is-Problem with the purge canister solinoid circut. I disconnected the battery and reset the pcm, it was fine for about a week and then it showed up again. I checked all the vacum lines, and wires, they are all connected. I have talked to a few people and they have all said that unless the purge canister is cracked that the solinoid should last the life of the car.
That isn't true. I had my car for 3 months with 31K on the clock.
The solenoid is on on the passenger's side motor mount. It's the one with all the vacuum lines on it. I'd have the solenoid replaced and I'm guessing it's going to be the one inside the canister.

It'll take you maybe 45 minutes. If you remove the battery and battery tray less time. It's not too hard. uite easy actually.
And no you wouldn't need to reverse it as long as you have a good cat and it's been well maintained you'll pass. Removing it lowers emissions in some areas and raises it in others but not too much.
I haven't had an EGR on mine for almost 4 years and I've past inspection everytime.

oh, ok, yeah I have an iceman anyway so the battery tray is easy. I was thinking about removing the cat, but am waiting until they re implement the emmisions testing in my CT so I can at least get one test in so I can get at least 2 years before I have to screw with anything emmisions wise.
