Dodge Nitro Is A Go!

That's a good point Nick and I will have to agree with you.
-Matt-
you are more of fans of certain cars then the company.

While the Nitro seems like a wasted effort to me, there must be some market share to be gained in the small suv segment or DCX wouldn't be wasting their time with it. There are a lot of people out there willing to plunk down money for this type of vehicle. I for one want a vehicle that is fun to drive and not one that is the latest fashion statement. But it's the success of vehicles like these that enable companies to take on projects like the Ram or LX platform. I would never have been and still will never be caught dead owning a minivan but do you realize that these were the vehicles that brought Chrysler from the brink of extinction? The Nitro, Liberty,PT and others will enable DCX to build the Challengers of tomorrow! I stuck by Chrysler brands through the K-CAR era so I'm not about to give up on them now! Things are just starting to get exciting again!
Hey Deranged, those K-cars and their longer than the industry at the time warranties are what brought chrysler back from the brink, hideous though they might have been. Big fan of Lee Iacoca, Big Fan of all American made cars, dodge of course being #1, but when it seems as if a company is making mistakes then to not chime in seems wrong to me. I dont care for the concept myself but I am not in the market for a small SUV either. I want American cars to do better, not worse than the imports and any criticism is meant to be constructive. That said if I am buying a new vehicle (Van, Truck, SUV, Coupe) it will be American Made.

being a fan or enthusiast simply means support the company and EVERY car they make no matter how good or bad the models are. you cant compare cars to football. football involves human errors. physical errors. dodges are good no matter what, and just because it doesn't appeal to the self proclaimed group of mopar fans doesn't mean it isn't a true mopar car. It DOES deserve our support, like ti or not.
thats one thing, but when you get pissed at the company because you think its ugly or to many doors or no manuals or no 6.1L ram or w/e the bitch of the day is, that is the problem which is very common here.

You say that you cannot compare cars to football because football involves human error. What do you think designs and builds the cars as well as decides what does and does not get built? Exactly, it's humans. And as you stated humans make errors, every single one of us makes errors at some point including everyone in DCX (especially them).
As far as what is or isn't a true Mopar is debatable and strictly a matter of opinion.
We're pissed at the company because they continually make that which we don't want instead of that which we do want. And this is not a problem here, it is actually a step in the right direction towards the solution by making our points and opinions known to them as well as others.
A little research would tell you that the Caravan was indeed built on the K platform as is the departing Neon just another variant. Had Chrysler not lead the industry into the minivan era I am not sure that they would still be in business. The Reliant and Aries, the original K's I don't believe would have carried the company very long even with the7/70 warranty. Iacoca realized these were just a stop gap vehicle I think just to convince the feds to hold them afloat long enough to get a viable product to market ie. Caravan. Chrysler was also lucky that all the big 3 at the time were producing crap and the K wasn't considered to be any worse than the others at that time. I'm died in the wool Mopar do not like everything they produce (or put their name on) in some cases but I see the logic in their business plan. IF they are selling vehicles they are making money, if they are making money they are spending some of that on new product development. That's where the Vipers, Prowlers, PT's, Crossfires, 300's, Charger's, Rams, Magnums, Dakotas came from and sales of these, a couple of which I'll wager some of us don't really care for will bring about the development of the Challengers, Firepowers, etc. of the future. And as far as them not making the vehicles we want. I WANT CHRYSLER ME-4-12 PRICED AROUND $14,000. Now that sounds stupid! HOPE YOU GET MY POINT.
I hear ya. There are sports teams I like and am a fan of, but they always have a few players that are sub par and should be traded. Same goes for any manufacturing business, including cars. I worked for a lighting company that has many different lines (models) of lighting systems (Ardee Lighting in Shelby, NC...they have a large website) and we were constantly trying to second guess what the next hot trend in the industry would be. Sometimes we got it right, other times we fell on our face and had to bite the bullet. It's the same in fashion/clothing, car/trucks, electronics, furniture, appliances, you name it.
Would I buy a Nitro? No, it's not what I'm looking for and I don't like the body style. If someone does, great.
Did DCX make a mistake in the Nitro? Time will tell, but you don't find a "winner" without going thru a few "losers".......

The nitro looks much better in different angles. I have been to Jeep Truck & Engineering and seen them in several different colors and it looks good. The pictures of all the spy shots do not do this vehicle justice. The Nitro is intended to appeal twards the male population as the Liberty has been dominated by the female poplulation.
I have to eat my words a bit on this, after seeing it in person, its not a bad looking vehicle, seems like plenty of bang for the buck, unique and aggressive styling, and now that my wife has seen it, she wants one instead of a new car, so add me to dodges target market afterall. Who knew?
