looking for a 2007 4.0 oil pan, drain plug is leaking pretty bad even after new oem plug and gasket, every where I looked the part is either discontinued or the dealer wants and arm and a leg. forget going used, anyone ever weld the original hole and drill and tap a new plug?

you can test if oil pan thread is hardened by trying to scratch with small file, if file cuts it's not hardened.
