I was a school bus driver while a college student in Minneapolis in the early '90s. I can remember a few knuckleheads blowing past my stop arm.Drivers would write down the offender's license plate number and give it to our dispatcher. I was told they would get some sort of warning in the mail.

I also remember that diesel school bus was a little under-powered. It seemed that while driving I was eitheroff the pedalorfoot-to-the-floor, nothing in-between.

Hey Mayfair if you think that is bad let me tell you a little story/incedent that I was witness too.
Our local fire department was being dispatched to a motor vehicle accident onroute to the scene with our siren and lights going some jerk actaully passed us. Once at the scene this idiot was there as well as the police, after a short discussion with the officer, the officer proceeded to write a ticket to this idiot. I still cant believe that this guy actually passed us with lights and siren going. Of course our captain would not let us go and talk to him because he knows that we would have dragged this guy into the bush and throttled him.

Why did he go to the accident scene?

a lot of them wouldn't see it if it was on fire.
I agree 100%, and I honestly believe that it has more to do with cell phones than anything else. I couldn't tell you how many times I've passed someone who was busy "texting" while driving 3mph weaving back and forth. I can't wait until cell phone usage is banned while driving. I honestly believe that it causes just as many accidents as drunk driving.

Back to the school bus thing ... it annoy's the hell out of me when I see a school bus with a annoying strobe light blinking on the roof with no kids inside. I guess I can understand it when there are kids on the bus, but when it's empty, turn it off. What's the point? Same thing goes for these rollback tow trucks. I can understand the lights while loading, but why is it nessary to have them flashing while driving? The car is ON the truck, not behind it.

End of vent ....

Well the strobes while driving I can see that happening. I've done it a few times with our service truck. Just a toggle switch on the dash, no idiot light or anything. My thing is its a school bus, you should take a little more caution around them. I just don't want to see an accident involving a school bus of kids.

The worst thing I seen in Florida are the bus drivers and the fools teaching them.

They will stop traffic outside a apartment complex and you wait for 5 minutes for the kids to slowly walk inand sit down, and then the dam bus turns into the apartment complex to turn around, YIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII I

And since when is it against the law to pass slower moving traffic, even if it's got all it's lights going , if your slower your slower and I would fight that ticket and beat it anytime, now you didn't say he did anything besides pass you.

Why is everbody in such a rush all the time, life goes by way to fast for that. Just slow down and enjoy life. You got me thinking you don't enjoy driving.
