be careful if you are towing a 5th wheel, 4wd sits almost 4 inches higher than 2wd. some trailer suspensions they make a lift kit to fix that and
some they dont. i have 1 they dont and had to buy a 2wd. if i had bought 4wd the the top of the bed would be to clode to the bottom of the
trailer, and just moving the 5th wheel wont fix all of the clearance if the problem is too severe.

 

If your gonna be on hard ground most of the time I would go with the 2-wheel drive. I got in some sugar sand with my 2-wheel drive when I was pulling my Mud-truck and was fine. Another time I got up a hill that my buddy had to put it in four to get up in a V8 f250. Another thing to consider is the insurance price difference and the fuel mileage. If you work on a farm or constuction sites often or your going to take it wheelin then go with the four.

 

I own a 4x4 mega cab and i do 90% highway driving. I am off road very seldom, and when i am 4x4 is nice to have. If you dont get 4x4 i would make sure you get the limited slip and get tires will some tread on the rear so you will have a fighting chance.

 

Better to have and don't need, than to need and don't have.

It's like a winch..........you may only use it 0.1% of the time, but 99.9% of the time it sure is reassuring know that it's there.

If I had a 4x4 Id be like a dang teenager!!! It would be beati it all toS^%$ cause Id be tearing the woods, fields, golf courses, yards all to crap. Im 40 and still a little immatureIts all I can do to keep the 2x4 on the pavement.Maybe in a few years I will grow up and be able handle one.

 

If you get the diesel in 2wd you better keep it on the hard stuff, I had to go into 4wd twice on dirt that wasn't that soft in my brother's yard.

I have went threw some dirt in 2wd but most times I go till it starts to slip and then hit the 4wd, this is my first 4x4 and being on construction sites you some time need it and sometimes at a home site too.

 

I'm with handyman,, get that bad boy off the pavement and onto some soft ground,, you'll wish u had a 4wd. I've pulled off the highway onto the shoulder and spun like crap trying to get back on road. I have a 4x4, but its fun to throw some grass .

 

Iam with Jake on this, when you need it its great to have, if you can afford the 4x4 thats the way to go and like others have mentioned, the resale is much higher on 4x than 2x

 

trust meget the 4x4. ive gotten stuch on hard dry dirt cuz one front tire droped into a pot hole and i had to put it in 4x4 to get out. thats the only thing i hate about this truck its sooo heavy on the front end the back tires do just about nothing unless ur on pavement. and if u ever get in any snow forget about a 2wheel drive. the torque combine with the light rear end ur going no where. but then agian i live in central wasington and we get atleast a foot a year.
