cumminalong - just cause you said you used it in Afghanistan - - You should see the plug in that some of the companies are building into their map software for the Army - - you can actually see where they pixed out the word Google Two of the map apps I used to work on the programs said that they bought all the sat images from a French company and they didn't like it when I was tootling around the software and found Google on their images.
Usually whenever I pulled them up, I found what I needed, doctored them up and then I went to the intel goobers and got the GOOD images.

The other thing that is kinda cool is my wife is Biologist with Auburn U. She is doing all the satellite mapping for the entire SE United States, so if I REALLY want a good image, I can always have her pull up stuff from the super cool guy sat's.

What was that license plate?

the wife and I do this from time to time. . .whats interesting is they have some that start in key west florida, and end up in either washington state, maine, california, or where ever else.

not long ago we did one that was an 8 parter that goes around Stone Mountian.

I've been to jacks, most of the time we go to the soundview bar for lunch though because there is less of a crowd, food is about the same and distance is about the same. My truck isn't in the picture but just west in the gravel lot is my coworkers 97 dodge ctd. First truck west of the building.

we use it to show the general trails and area of our desert routes when the bajas go off roading.

google earth is very nice!

it does have its draw backs of out dated pics as afore mentioned. guessin you have to pay for the upgrade to get the good stuff [sm=confused06.gif]
