Google earth is actually used by a few of the major news programs for satellite photos. you can usually see the "Google" white-ish text in the corner

I use it quite a bit. I started using it in Afghanistan, just to get quick, easy terrain maps. They have really added a lot in the last year or so.

I like to use it to plan runs, gives (i assume) accurate distances, although it doesn't account for hills
oh well.

They haven't updated my area in about 5'ish years.

I wonder how often the do updates.

Yea, the photos are way out dated. Ive had my shed in the yard for about 6 years now, and google earth shows my yard before I got it.

cumminalong - just cause you said you used it in Afghanistan - - You should see the plug in that some of the companies are building into their map software for the Army - - you can actually see where they pixed out the word Google Two of the map apps I used to work on the programs said that they bought all the sat images from a French company and they didn't like it when I was tootling around the software and found Google on their images.
